ITU – CISCO Networking Academy:

NFC IE&FR is making collaborative efforts with NAVTEC for the establishment of Local CISCO Networking Academy at NFC IE&FR. The Cisco Networking Academy at NFC – IEFR aims to teach valuable networking, IT skills.

A meeting was held on 7th march 2008 in the Regional Directorate of National and Vocational Training Education Commission, Lahore under the chairmanship of Regional Director NAVTEC Lahore for the establishment of Local Networking Academy at NFC-IEFR.

In the meeting the ITU Regional Academy representative presented the details of establishment of Local Networking Academy and guided the institute to avail their existing infrastructure for the purpose. Regional Director NAVTEC appreciated the work done for the above and asked to submit PC-1 for the same. In response to that a PC-1 of Local CISCO Networking Academy has thus been submitted to NAVTEC on 25th March, 2008.

Establishment of Technical Training Center:

A meeting was held on 7th march 2008 in the Regional Directorate of National and Vocational Training Education Commission, Lahore under the chairmanship of Regional Director NAVTEC Lahore for the establishment of Technical Training Center NFC-IEFR.

Regional Director NAVTEC appreciated the work done for the above and asked to submit PC-1 for the same. In response to that the PC-1 of technical training center initially for three courses namely Instrumentation and Process Control, AC Mechanic and Electrical technology was thus submitted to NAVTEC on 28th March, 2008

 Scholarly Activities:

 

·  A Research paper by Ms Saira Anwar  was accepted in SPICE 2008, conference for improvement and standardization of software engineering processes. The conference will held on 26 - 29 May, 2008 at Germany.

·  Another research paper by the same person is underway in parallel titled as “Telecom Policies, Regulations and Standards in Pakistan and Resolving National Network Crisis.

Qualification Upgradation:

 

·   M.Sc Engineering for two faculty members is going on with the status as:

    • Mr. Badar ul Islam M.Sc Computer Engineering , course work and Thesis both completed. The title of the research work is :“ Electrical Load Forecasting based on Artificial Intelligence.”

 

    • Mrs. Asma Adeel M.Sc Electronics Engineering , course work is completed and research on “ WDM- Passive Optical Access Networks “ is to be commenced.

 

Special Visits:

 

  •  A special visit of Transformer Reclamation Laboratory (FESCO)  for the 7th term Elect. Class specializing in power was arranged in connection with the subject of Electric Machine Design to enhance skills in designing processes.

  • Faculty member visit UET, Lahore in connection with the discussion of final year power specialization subjects in Electrical Engg. Department there,   as well as a dialogue on some examination matters was also done.
